Glastonbury Male Voice Choir to Help Raise Money for Abbey’s Rescue Our Ruins Appeal

The Glastonbury Male Voice Choir is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2013 and will be holding an extra special concert in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey.

The Choir is keen to support the Abbey’s Rescue Our Ruins Appeal which aims to raise £500,000 to help conserve the historic Somerset landmark.

The concert on July 12 will be in the Abbey ruins if the weather is dry and in the Town Hall if it is wet weather for the first 200 tickets sold.

James Stone, events officer at the Abbey, said: “We are delighted by the Choir’s support for the Appeal in this their 90th year.

“We are sure the event – which will see profits split between the Choir and the Abbey’s Appeal – supported by the town and beyond.

“The Abbey will provide a spectacular auditorium for the choir so we are all hoping the weather stays dry.”

David Taylor, Choir chairman, said: “The Choir is delighted to celebrate its 90th Anniversary Year by singing at one of the most prestigious venues in the country and we are grateful to the Abbey for the opportunity.

“We will present a diverse programme which will have something to please everyone. We also hope visitors and holiday makers will be able to enjoy the spectacle.”
